Summer Symposium
Summer Symposia August 2015
Alberta Education is offering three Summer Symposia professional learning opportunities to support teachers new to working with children and youth from low-incidence populations,
set in the context of the Regional Collaborative Service Delivery (RCSD) model. Three concurrent sessions in the following low‑incidence areas are being offered at each host site:
· Blindness and Visual Impairment
· Deafness and Hard of Hearing
· Complex Communication Needs
The Symposia are designed for teachers and teams who will be new to supporting a child or youth from a low-incidence population in the 2015/2016 school
year. Participants will learn about teaching strategies and assessment, as well as adapting and/or modifying curricular materials, resources and the environment to address the unique learning needs of these groups of students.
These one day sessions will provide attendees with a broad array of hands-on activities, practical knowledge and skills development to promote academic
success for their students.
